Art with Heart: Giving Back Through Creativityty

Art has always been my way of seeing and sharing the world—but over the past few years, it has taken on a deeper role in my life.

Today, a part of my artistic journey is dedicated to a cause that means a great deal to me:

helping abandoned and vulnerable dogs in the Algarve.

A Project Born from Compassion

In 2020, my husband and I began visiting dog shelters in search of a dog to adopt. What we found was overwhelming—hundreds of dogs, all longing for a loving home. We adopted one, then another, but we couldn’t forget the many others left behind. Many of these animals, often abandoned or born unwanted, face a lifetime in shelters simply because there are far more dogs than adopters.

Moved by this reality, I decided to act in the way I know best—through painting. In 2021, I launched my ongoing “Art to Help Dogs” project, using some of my artworks to raise donations for my chosen animal welfare charities.

What Has Been Achieved So Far

Thanks to the support of generous art lovers, animal advocates, and kind collectors, this project has already:

  • Sterilised over 40 dogs, preventing the birth of countless unwanted puppies.

  • Provided veterinary care to dogs in need.

  • Donated food and supplies to overstretched shelters.

  • Inspired and uplifted the volunteers who devote their lives to rescuing these animals

The Charities I Support

How It Works

Each month, I select at least one painting to be part of this special project. If you fall in love with one of these pieces, your donation will go directly to one of the animal charities I support. In return, you’ll receive the painting as a gift, along with:

  • A certificate of authenticity,

  • A confirmation and thank you of the charity,

  • A personal message explaining how your contribution helped,

  • And the knowledge that your artwork carries a deeper, lasting meaning.

  • 100% of your donation goes to the charity - no commissions, no fees.

StreetLife Animal Sterilisation Programme

StreetLife works tirelessly to reduce animal suffering at its root - by preventing the birth of unwanted puppies. Since 2017, they’ve sterilised over 1400 dogs in the Eastern Algarve. Every operation means fewer dogs living and dying in shelters.

Benafim Dogs Rescue

A small, privately run shelter in the central Algarve, Benafim Dogs Rescue provides a safe haven for abandoned dogs and puppies. Their dedicated team cares, rehabilitates, and prepares these animals for adoption with incredible love and commitment.

Donations are used for veterinary bills and dog food, always going directly where they are most needed.

Why This Matters to You as a Collector

When you choose one of these paintings, you're not just adding beauty to your home—you’re becoming a part of something meaningful. You're:

  • Giving an abandoned dog a better chance at life,

  • Supporting the volunteers who make that possible,

  • And turning your artwork into a unique expression of kindness and shared purpose.

This collaboration between artist, charity, and collector adds an invisible yet powerful layer to the artwork—a true story of hope and compassion behind every brushstroke.
