“From the Garden II”

“From the Garden II” continues my quiet dialogue with nature — a series of five small paintings that open like windows into a world of serenity. Rooted in our garden in the Algarve, Portugal, these works reflect the subtle magic of morning light, whispering greens, and sky - washed blues. In a time of constant motion, they offer a moment to breathe — an invitation to slow down and reconnect with the delicate beauty that often goes unnoticed.

Much of my inspiration arrives in quiet, hands-on moments, like pruning plants, gathering fallen petals or moving through the garden with no goal but care. The garden in the Algarve is not only a place of colour and fragrance, but of texture, transformation, and silence.

I began collecting delicate remnants: the fine lace of skeleton petals, soft natural fibres, even fragments of shed snake skin — each carrying its own kind of poetry. These found materials, fragile yet resilient, became part of the paintings themselves, layered into soft backgrounds of green and blue, touched with gold to echo the morning and late-afternoon light. In this way, the work is not only about nature, but made with it.

Inspiration behind the series

Seven Sisters I

Seven delicate petals rise from a woven ground of natural fibres, each one distinct yet connected — like sisters growing from the same root. Their soft forms float against a bold blue, suggesting both strength and intimacy in quiet harmony.

Seven Sisters II

Echoing the quiet rhythm of its twin, this composition offers a gentle variation — petals subtly repositioned, like a family finding its natural flow. Still bound by their shared origin, the seven sisters bloom together, each tracing her own graceful path within the whole.

St. John’s Night

Five luminous petals shimmer in a midnight world of deep blue and vibrant green. Glow worms drift softly through the air, filling the air with quiet magic — a moment steeped in childhood memory, when nature whispered its wonders under the summer moon.

Natural Beauties

In the gentle hush of morning, a small cluster of fragile blooms stands bathed in golden light. Still touched by dew, they hold the promise of a new day — intricate, fleeting, and full of quiet strength, just like the life waiting to unfold.

September Glow

As the long summer fades, warm light lingers on petals weathered by sun and time. A soft morning mist signals change, as wind begins to carry them away — gently, piece by piece — making space for the next quiet bloom to rise.
